Finance will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Monday, September 8 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Acceptance of a $23,400 grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety & Security for Emergency Dispatch for covering the cost of expert case review and reporting of Emergency Medical Dispatch calls.
  • Acceptance of a grant of sixteen Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon assemblies from the Vulnerable Road User Assessment Program of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
  • Acceptance of a $378,505.60 grant from the Boston Metropolitan Organization from the Boston Metropolitan Organization’s Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2026 Community Connections Program to purchase bicycle racks, bike shelters, and the installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons.
  • Acceptance of a $249,295 grant for Newton Bluebikes from MassDOT Shared Streets and Spaces program for the installation of four new stations, piloting winter operations, and optimizing locations by relocating underperforming stations to higher priority locations.
  • Request authorization to enter into a contract for the Greater Boston bike-share system for a term of five (5) years and an option to renew for two additional two-year terms.

Zoning and Planning will meet in person (Room 204) and virtually (Zoom link) on Monday, September 8 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Appointment of Ruth Goldman to the Community Preservation Committee
  • Request for addition of maximum residential facade build out ratio to Chapter 30, Zoning to aid in new development being contextual to the surrounding neighborhood. (Chair’s Note: The Chair intends to ask the Committee to set a public hearing on October 14, 2025 for this item.)
  • Request for a discussion and possible amendments to Chapter 30 Zoning or other City Ordinances to enhance the preservation of existing homes over their replacement by larger and more expensive structures.
