• Walk the Freedom Trail

What: The Freedom Trail is a unique collection of museums, churches, meeting houses, burying grounds, parks, ships, and historic markers that tell the story of the American Revolution and beyond. The 2.5 mile-long path is marked largely with brick along Boston’s sidewalks, so self-guided tours are possible – though we recommend having a guide!

Where: The Freedom Trail starts at Boston Common. Printable PDF map available here!

• Check out the Historic USS Constitution Ship in Charlestown

What: Also known as Old Ironsides, this 200+ ft frigate is the world’s oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat. This wooden-hulled, three-mastered ship was named by President George Washington after the United States Constitution.

The ship was used during the War of 1812 against the United Kingdom. It’s now used to promote the understanding of the Navy’s role in war and peace through educational outreach and historic demonstration.

Where: The USS Constitution is free to explore every day from 9am – 6pm. Location at Boston National Historical Park at Charlestown Navy Yard, 02129.
