Just two months after she put her strikingly modern residence in the San Fernando Valley community of Encino up for sale, actress Alyson Hannigan has already handed the keys over to a new owner, as was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
Records indicate the buyer is veteran entertainment industry executive David Lebensfeld, who forked over a whopping $16 million for the place, one of the biggest sums ever spent for an Encino home and more than double what the “How I Met Your Mother” and “Buffy the Vampire” star and her husband, fellow actor Alexis Denisof, originally paid for the house less than six years ago. Lebensfeld is the founder of Los Angeles-based Ingenuity Studios, an award-winning visual effects business acquired over the summer for an undisclosed amount by Streamland Media.
Of course, Hannigan and Denisof did customize the premises while they lived there, adding some skylights and sprucing up the grounds. The charming property made a cameo in the hit NBC family drama “This is Us” during their tenure, appearing in the sixth and final season as the dream house Kevin Pearson built for his mom.
Hidden away behind gates and lush foliage, on a hillside parcel spanning over 3 acres, the concrete, wood and glass structure was built in 2001 and designed by architect Peter Tolkin. In addition to a 6,500-square-foot main house, the property also includes a one-bedroom guesthouse with its own kitchen, as well as an art studio/gym with full bath and office attached to a three-car garage that hosts an upstairs bedroom.
As for the primary home, that place is adorned throughout with limestone floors, poured-concrete walls, high wood-beam ceilings, designer light fixtures and warm wood accents. Walls of glass provide ample natural light and seamless indoor-outdoor environs, while a series of pavilions opens to a central courtyard boasting a pool and spa.
