Eight years after first listing his Fifth Avenue duplex, celebrity hair stylist Frédéric Fekkai has finally sold it for $4.5 million — far less than its original asking price of $12 million.
He bought the home for $7.4 million in 2006.
The third- and fourth-floor duplex, at 953 Fifth Ave., was designed by Robert Couturier, and comes with a dramatic red-and-blue color scheme. At 3,500 square feet, it features four bedrooms and 4½ baths.
The home opens from a private elevator landing to an entry foyer that leads to a sunlit living room with a fireplace, moldings and three oversize casement windows overlooking Central Park.
There’s also a library with a fireplace and 18th-century chestnut wood paneling imported from Versailles, according to the listing, as well as a formal dining room with a fireplace and a table that seats 10. There’s even an eat-in chef’s kitchen with a butler’s pantry.
