Meet the presenters
James Heaslet
Serving as the Chief Appraiser for the Veterans Affairs (VA) Loan Guaranty Service since 2018, James is responsible for developing and overseeing policies and regulations for the VA Construction and Valuation department. He was an independent fee appraiser on the VA panel for over 9 years prior to his current position. James is both a Level I and Level II appraisal investigator along with an Associate member of the Certified Fraud Examiners Association. He was appointed to by the Governor of Arizona to serve on the State Board of Appraisals. Over the 6 years appointed to the board, he served as Vice-Chair and adjudicated over 2500 appraisal complaints. James holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Arizona. He has retired from the United States Marine Corps with over 20 years of service. Of the many awards received, his highest awarded medal is the Meritorious Service Medal and a combat action award for numerous engagements in Iraq while serving with the First Marine Division. James is passionate about serving country, fellow Veterans, and his community.
