Antonio Solano is facing multiple drug charges.
A 40-year-old man is facing multiple charges after authorities say they found drugs in a registered daycare center in Lawrence.
Antonio Solano of Lawrence was arraigned Monday on the charges of trafficking in 36 grams or more of fentanyl, two counts of trafficking in more than 10 grams of fentanyl, distribution of methamphetamine, distribution of a Class B substance, and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
The Essex County District Attorney’s office said in a statement that the charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at the daycare on Friday by investigators with the state police gang unit and Lawrence police narcotics enforcement unit.
The search of childcare center, Sixta Child Daycare on Ames Street, resulted in the discovery of “numerous plastic bags” of drugs, including what the DA’s office said is believed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The DA’s office said two children were in the daycare when the search was conducted.
Solano’s connection to the daycare was not immediately disclosed by authorities.
An attorney for Solano did not immediately return a request for comment. He is set to return to court on January 3 for a probable cause hearing.
